The Bighorn Basin Ski Tour

On this excellent trip, we will be visiting 4 different ski areas, in Montana and Wyoming. The best option for flights on this trip is into Billings, MT. Keep in mind that 2 of the ski areas are on very large mountain passes (with great scenery), which can close during storms. In this event, we will alter the ski trip in ways we can still get you to the other hills to keep skiing.

This is also a great trip for beginners! Learning to ski is expensive, but not at the Ma and Pa hills! You do not need to spend hundreds of dollars a day to learn to ski. Looking for rowdy terrain? Terrain Parks? Or Intermediate cruising? All these hills have a variety of terrain and although some are quite small, some offer some good big mountain skiing and long steeps. You will want to fly into Billings on a Monday, and plan to fly out on Monday or Tuesday.

Thermopolis Hot Springs, WY One of our great lodging options on this trip is at Thermopolis Hot Springs. Walk through the colorful terraces and springs, and even soak at on of the 4 public pools. Thermopolis is also home to a great dinosaur museum.

Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area One of the quietest national park units in the summertime is also one of the beautiful in the National Park System. With steep cliffs, over 1000’ high lining the Bighorn Canyon on both sides for miles, taking a day off to rest the legs and take in the views is never a bad option. Keep your eyes out for wildlife as well, including mule deer, whitetail deer, wild horses and of course bighorn sheep. This side trip is optional, and you may choose to add a 6th day of skiing instead.

Cody, WY/ Buffalo Bill Museum Cody is quiet in the winter compared to the summer, yet offers the same great attractions, such as the Buffalo Bill Museum. With the largest gun collection in the world, and many exhibits on western culture, it is one of the largest western themed museums in the world. We always try to time the trip as well for the famous prime rib night at the historic Irma Hotel.

Take a day to snowmobile into Yellowstone The East Entrance is the quietest Yellowstone entrance, and you can take a snowmobile trip to the Hayden Valley or Canyon or to Old Faithful. Rates are not included with alternate activities, and this one is optional.
